Harrison's Recovery Formula 56g - Certified Organic Hand-Feeding Food for Birds

Harrison's Recovery is a certified organic, complete food for hand-feeding birds. The pack describes it as being for hand-feeding parrot chicks from hatching to 7 days of age, for young birds needing an easily assimilated source of nutrients (including insectivorous passerines), for medical and surgical patients recovering from pansystemic failure, and for birds in which anorexia has slowed gastrointestinal emptying time.

How to use: gently feel the crop first and check it is almost empty. Mix fresh each time, 1 part dry formula to 1-3 parts drinking water, and adjust the consistency if needed. Use a thermometer to keep it at 39-41°C (102-106°F), and don't microwave it, to avoid burns. Harrison's says tube feeding is probably the most universally successful technique. The correct technique matters to prevent injury or inhalation of the formula, so anyone not experienced with tube feeding should leave it to a professional.
